These
songs are important to me because each of them express a different part of my
life with a story of my life held in each one.
‘Little Things’ is important to me because I first heard it with my boyfriend and when we were listening to it we both looked at each other and knew that it was our relationship put to notes and chords. ‘Butterfly Kisses’ has always meant a lot to me, I have grown up with it and being a daddy’s little girl, I have grown to love this song. ‘One Thing Remains’ always hits me powerfully since the first time that we sang it in church. I love the lyrics and I feel like the song could have been written from my own experiences. ‘The Way I am’ has been a favorite song of mine for a while now. My oldest sister Sarah showed me Ingrid and I fell in love with the music. I really like the lyrics of this song and can’t help but to sing along, always accepting myself for what and who I am when I hear this song. ‘Stars’ is a beautiful classical song that I have grown to love more and more every time I hear it. When I hear this song, I can very freely express my creative side, and relax, releasing my thoughts and stresses. ‘We’re Going To Be Friends’ is a very happy and fun song, the first time I heard it was on Pandora, and I absolutely could imagine being little and skipping and playing with all my friends. This song is important to me because I can’t help but smile when I hear it.
My playlist really shows that I have a calm personality, which is usually true, but I do have my Skrillex moments too even if they are not shown by my album. My choices reflect a lot of my sense of who I am, but there are some things of myself that cannot be described by a song, but I think that this album does a good job of beginning the story of Shannon Sward.
By listening to these songs, people learn that I have a great love for my family, friends, boyfriend, and my religion. They would learn that I like to relax, I have my flaws, and I like to have fun. They would not learn that I am a little short tempered or that I am a workaholic, but who wants to express their flaws in their album? They may assume that I only like folk music, which I do really like folk music, but I also like most other genera or music. They may assume that I am closer to my dad than I am to my mom, which is untrue, and the truth is that I am not closer to one over the other. They will probably assume that I am a Christian, which I hope they do because I am.
My playlist really shows that my music choice is a lot more than what I like to hear, but what I can personally relate to. This is because I noticed that the songs that I choose for My Self album is also an album I would put together of some of my favorite songs. The things people surround themselves around really show that people like to be surrounded by things that they have a connection with.
