Journal 3: My Man, Edward

As I stop to think about my favorite movie, Tim Burton comes to my mind as he always does. Maybe it is the Halloween spirit, but this time when I decide which of the movies that Tim Burton produced is my favorite nothing but Edward Scissorhands comes to mind . Edward Scissorhands is a movie about an experiment that came to life; this experiment, played by Johnny Depp, is complete with a heart but has sharp objects for fingers. When Edward, the experiment, finally ventures outside, he goes through numerous different trials where he experiences happiness, sadness, friends, loneliness, and love. He in the end returns to his home alone because that was no other way for him to stay safe.

I enjoy this movie because Edward is such a sweet man and although some people do cruel things to him, he can always seem to find good in everyone. Also, he really stood up for the people that he loves and will risk his own safety to protect them. I like this aspect of the movie because I really hope that I would do the same for my loved ones such as my family. Another aspect of the piece that I enjoyed was how when Edward came into town, many people eventually warmed up to him and were very friendly to him; this is after they were done judging him though. All together, Edward Scissorhands is a great movie and I would encourage anyone who hasn't seen it to watch it during this Halloween season.

  1. This movie is the best movie of all time. I love Edward and his scissorhands. It is a great movie because it really does show us not to judge a book by its cover and that everyone should get a chance. This movie also does a great job with showing how important it is to protect your loved ones, but to an extent. Now I am going to have to watch this movie again, I have not seen it in so long. (:

  2. I am sad to say that I have not seen the entire movie but I have seen bits and pieces of it. After reading this post I am motivated to go out and see what I have been missing. I enjoy movies that have an important message for the audience;in this case be accepting of all those who are different from you. This is a message that still is prevalent today and can be a great message for all ages.

  3. Like Katie stated, I too have not seen the whole movie, but what I did see was good. I liked what you said about people finaly warming up to him in the end. It's nice to know that the people saw him for who he is and not just his exterior.
